In the fifth episode of British Murders Season 3, I tell the story of Colin Ireland aka The Homicidal Homophobe.
Between March 8, 1993, and June 15, 1993, Ireland killed 5 gay men in London.
Ireland had targeted the men, all of whom were into S&M, as he had made a new year's resolution to become a serial killer and he felt they would be easy targets.
Ireland was handed 5 life sentences on December 20, 1993, and later added to the list of prisoners serving out a whole life tariff, which meant that he would never be released from prison.
He died of natural causes at Wakefield prison on February 21, 2012.
